Fractional CFO for SaaS, with numbers you can defend.

Plenty of CFOs can read a P&L. Fewer can tell you why NRR moved last quarter, or rebuild your ARR from the ledger in front of a buyer’s analyst. Prinsee was built on SaaS reporting. You get a senior finance partner in your Slack, a monthly package you can trust, and Perch underneath it.

What a SaaS CFO actually owns.

Not a dashboard subscription and not a bookkeeper with a new title. The finance leadership a growing software company needs, at the depth it needs now.

Metrics your board trusts

ARR, NRR, GRR, CAC payback and burn multiple, each defined once in writing and checked against the source every month.

Cash, burn and runway

A rolling cash forecast with scenarios, so “can we afford it?” gets a number instead of a feeling.

Revenue and deferred revenue

Billings, bookings and recognized revenue kept straight with your CPA, so ARR and GAAP revenue agree. Deferred revenue rolls forward every month.

Pricing and packaging

What a price change does to conversion, churn and expansion, modeled before you ship it, measured after.

Hiring and capacity

A headcount plan tied to revenue capacity and runway, updated as actuals land instead of once a year.

Board and investor reporting

A quarterly board pack and monthly investor update built from checked numbers, with commentary you can stand behind.

The SaaS metrics in every package.

Defined in writing, calculated the same way every month, and checked before you see them. Targets are common benchmarks for companies between $1M and $20M ARR; your plan sets your own.

MetricWhat it tells youCommon target
ARR growthWhether the business is compoundingSet against plan and stage
Net revenue retentionWhether existing customers grow their spendAbove 100%; 110%+ is strong
Gross revenue retentionHow much revenue you keep before expansion90%+ for B2B
CAC paybackMonths to earn back the cost of a new customerUnder 12 to 18 months
Burn multipleCash burned per dollar of net new ARRUnder 1.5x; under 1x is excellent
Rule of 40Whether growth and profit are in balance40% or more
Gross marginWhat each revenue dollar leaves after delivery75% to 80%+ for software

A fixed calendar, every month.

You always know when the numbers are coming and what they will include. No chasing, no surprises at the board meeting.

  1. Working day 1

    Data check

Nightly syncs confirm every system is current. Anything stale or missing gets chased before close starts.

  2. Day 3

    Numbers checked

Billing, the books, the CRM and the bank agree, or we explain why they don’t. Nothing gets smoothed over.

  3. Day 5

    Monthly package

P&L, balance sheet, cash, SaaS metrics and an MRR bridge, with a one-page note on what changed, why, and what we’d do about it.

  4. Day 7

    Review call

A working session on the decisions in front of you: hiring, pricing, spend, the raise.

  5. Every quarter

    Board pack

A board-ready deck built from the same checked numbers. Growth and Scale plans.

Everything in one place. Current every morning.

Your team keeps QuickBooks, Stripe and HubSpot. We connect them, agree on what every number means, keep it all current overnight, and put it in Perch with a person behind it.

  1. 01

    Connect

Read-only connections you approve in each tool’s own sign-in. Nothing to install, no passwords shared.

  2. 02

    Define

One written meaning for every number, so ARR and churn are the same in every meeting and every deck.

  3. 03

    Keep current

Everything syncs overnight. If a number looks wrong, we fix it before your first meeting, not after the board sees it.

  4. 04

    Ask

Open Perch or message us in Slack. Answers in minutes, with the receipts, from people who know your business.

Perch has the numbers. Your analyst has your back. The overnight work is software. The judgment, the follow-up and the hard conversations are a person who knows your numbers.

Fractional CFO, full-time CFO, or your accountant?

You probably need a bookkeeper and a CPA no matter what. The question is who turns their work into decisions.

SaaS CFO questions

The questions SaaS founders ask most before they hire a fractional CFO.

All questions

Do you work with usage-based or hybrid pricing?

Yes. Usage and hybrid models need a written definition of what counts as recurring. We split committed and variable revenue and report both, so a big usage month does not inflate ARR.

Do you handle revenue recognition and ASC 606?

We build the schedules and roll deferred revenue forward every month. Your CPA owns the accounting policy and the annual statements; we make their job faster and their questions fewer.

Can you work with our existing bookkeeper?

Yes, and we prefer to. Your bookkeeper keeps the books. We build the reporting on top and send them a short, specific list of fixes whenever the nightly checks find something.

How soon do we get the first monthly package?

Usually at the first month-end close after kickoff. If your data needs cleanup first, we say so on day one and fix it during setup.

How much does a fractional CFO cost?

Prinsee publishes its pricing. Essentials is $1,500 a month, Growth is $3,500 and Scale is $6,500. Every plan starts with the two-week Finance Automation Sprint, $3,500 flat. On Essentials, the Sprint is the setup. Growth and Scale add a one-time setup of $7,500 to $15,000, depending on how many systems and entities we connect, and the Sprint is credited toward it. See what fractional CFOs charge in 2026.

How do Perch and your analyst split the work?

Perch does the overnight work: syncing your systems, checking that the numbers agree, flagging what looks off, and answering your questions in minutes with the sources attached. Your analyst does the rest: the follow-ups, the judgment calls, the board prep and the hard conversations. We work in your Slack like part of your team, not from behind a monthly PDF.

Your next board meeting is coming either way.

Thirty minutes. Bring your last board deck or your messiest spreadsheet. You’ll leave with three things to fix, whether we work together or not.
